Ms. Bannister, 78, died Dec. 10, 2004. Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd Hillard and Corrie Porter Jackson. She was retired from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, where she was a member of the Service Class. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Surviving are a son, Steven P. Bannister of Center Point, La.; a sister, Dr. Mozelle V. Jackson of Simpsonville; a brother, Jason Melvin Jackson of Newberry; two grandchildren; Steven Christopher Bannister and Shana Michele Green; a daughter-in-law; Linda C. Bannister; and a number of nieces and nephews.
