Irmintrud "Trudy" Barbara Bauer Brushart, 86, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at Serene Suites Premier Memory Care in Blue Ash. She was born April 25, 1935 in Aschhausen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, a daughter of the late Alphons and Anna (Shaeffer) Bauer.

Trudy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and she formerly attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She retired as the director of the Radiology Department at Southern Ohio Medical Center after 32 years of service and she was a member and past president of the Portsmouth Chapter of Soroptimist International. She had been an active volunteer for the Salvation Army, Portsmouth Sister City and Portsmouth Murals Inc. organizations, as well as Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army. Trudy was a graduate of the St. Mary's Hospital (Huntington, WV) Radiological Technician program and Huntington St. Joseph High School.

On August 10, 1957, she married John Jay Brushart in Coal Grove. The couple met in Ironton when Jay was assigned a story about Lawrence General's new X-ray technician from Germany and they were married 39 years at the time of Jay's passing on January 31, 1997.

Surviving Trudy is her daughter, Amalia "Amy" Maria (Jim) Harris of Paducah, KY; her son-in-law, Ed Clark of Lancaster; a sister, Inge Hausser of Germany; six grandchildren, Stephanie Campsey, Jason Clark, and James Adam, Nathan, Matthew and Elliot Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Zavier, Ariahn, Gavin Campsey and Avery Clark.

Trudy was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Anna K. "Trina" Clark; and two brothers, Paul and Hubert Bauer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Mary's Catholic Church Thursday at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Brian Beal officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth on Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. with recitation of the rosary immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati at hospiceofcincinnati.org/donate.
