Obituary- Mrs. Elizabeth SHRIVER Stewart
Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart, relict of the late. Honorable Andrew Stewart,
died at the residence of her son, D. Shriver Stewart, in Washington,
D.C., on May 3, 1894, aged 87 years. Deceased was the daughter of David Shriver of Cumberland, Md., and was married to "Tarriff" Andy STEWART in 1825, who had been elected to congress from this district while yet in his thirties. During the score or more years in which he was in congress, Mrs. Stewart was prominent in the social life of Washington.
Mr. Stewart died in 1872, and since that time she has made her home with her children at Ohiopyle, Pa., or in Washington, D.C.
Of the six children, all are living except Lieut. Wm. F. Stewart, U.S.N., who was lost on the U.S.S. Onedia, January 24, 1870, and Mrs. Swearengen.
The funeral took place from the Episcopal Church, Uniontown, Pa. Services were conducted by Rev. Wightman at 3 p.m.
The interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of people.
The following were the pall bearers: E.B. Dawson, Dr. William H. Sturgeon, Col. T.B. Searight, A.D. Ewing, and H.L. Rankin.
