Barnwell, Dec 1 [1944] -- Mrs Mary Sanders Black, wife of W H Black, died early this morning at her home in the Reedy Branch section of Barnwell county following an illness of two weeks. Mrs Black suffered an attack of typhus fever a short time ago.
"Aunt Mary," as she was affectionately known, enjoyed the love, respect and devotion of a wide circle of frineds and relatives throughout this section of the state. She was before her marriage Mary Sanders, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Cooper Sanders. She was 66 years old and took an active part in church work. Her valuable and Christian influence will be greatly missed by everyone.
Besides her husband, Mrs Black is survived by three daughters, Miss Margaret Black and Miss Jo Black, Barnwell; Mrs Herbert C Betsil, Charleston; four sons, C C Black, Barnwell, T-Sgt Laurie Black, stationed in England; H Judson Black, St Simons Island, Georgia, Dwight Black, Columbia; three brothers, E B Sanders, Brunswick, Georgia; John Sanders, Washington, DC; Nat Sanders, Olar; four sisters, Mrs Rosa Dyches, Elloree; Mrs F V Morris, Olar; Mrs Essie S McDonald, West Palm Beach, Florida; Mrs M P Corbett, Columbia; and eight grandchildren.
