he was the son of Silas Bannister(1751-1827) & his wife Thankful Ely(1757-1845) of West Windsor, VT

Roderick married his brother Warren's wife's sister Lydia Place in Rushford in 8/1819. She was the daughter of Paul Place & his wife Judith Brown of Rochester, NH

Roderick & Lydia's Children were:
1. Rowena Bannister(1820-)
2. Wayne Bannister(1822-1823)@ Caneadea, NY
3. Roxana Bannister(1823-1830)@ Caneadea, NY
4. Albert Bannister(1825-)

Roderick married 2nd time in Odgen, Monroe Co., NY on 6/10/1863 to Mrs Ester Young, daughter of Enos Gary & his wife Esther Buckingham. Esther was born on 5/8/1791 in Connecticut.

Roderick was a farmer most of his life. He drove a pair of steers with a sled from Vermont to Rushford, NY in the winter of 1812 & began clearing his land for a farm. Later about 1820-25 he built a saw mill & grist mill at the head of the gorge on the Caneadea Creek near the west line of the Town of Caneadea, Allegany Co., NY The latter part of his life was spent in Ogden, NY.
