Of Annandale, VA, joined her husband Nathan "Curley" S. White III of 54 years with Our Heavenly Father peacefully on December 23, 2013. Surrounded by her son Nathan S. White IV and wife Nancy; grandsons Jacob and Samuel; and her daughter Sharon L. White for Christmas. She was so very happy. Barbara was the daughter of Leonidis and Mabel Adamson; sister of the late Robert L. Adamson; aunt of Robert L. Adamson and Barry B. Adamson; and cousin of Eileen Lowe, Faith Smoyer, and Alma Turner.
Barbara served all offices of the PTA, building a multi-purpose room onto her children's elementary school; She was retired from the National Institutes of Health. Enjoying and creating neighborhood and church communities in Virginia at Immanuel Bible Church and in Florida at the First Baptist Church.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, January 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd, Springfield, VA (703-941-9428) where a service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Friday, January 3 at 1 p.m. Interment at the Goshen Church Cemetery, Brink Road, Laytonsville, MD on Saturday, January 4 at 11 am. If desired, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Immanuel Bible Church, 6911 Braddock Rd, Springfield, VA 22151.
