Mr. Davis was the son of Charles A. and Ruth Kennan Davis, and was born June 13, 1846 at Calhoun, Iowa, after his parents had been driven out of Nauvoo. The family arrived in Salt Lake in 1849, and in 1852 came to Spanish Fork, being among the first settlers here.
Mr. Davis was a farmer and stockman, but he was connected with many of the business enterprises of Spanish Fork. He was one of the prime movers in establishing the First National bank here. He also was one of the men who took part in repelling the Indians and was one of the little squad which won fame at the Diamond Fork battle, when one man was killed.
Mr. Davis was chosen director of the Spanish Fork Co-op in May, 1902, and held that position for sixteen years. He married Almira Stoker in 1871, and she survives him, as do the following children: Warren E. Davis, Jr., of Altoonah, Alfred Davis of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Ida Hardman of Bluffdale, Mrs. Ruth Beck of San Pedro, Cal.; Archibold Davis of Price, John S. Davis of Spanish Fork. He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lueretia Beckstead and Mrs. Arvilla Adamson, the latter of Portland, Ore., and two brothers, Don A. Davis of Altoonah and John G. Davis of St. Anthony, Idaho.
A large number of grandchildren and great grandchild are numbered among his posterity. Funeral services will be held at the Second ward chapel at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
