Mr. Crayne, 85, died Saturday at Freeman Health Center, Joplin. He was born near Jerico Springs to William and Flossie (Brasher) Crayne.

He attended Mitchell Grove country school, but because of his father's ill health, he quit school after the eighth grade to help on the family farm. He worked for Swift and Company in Kansas City for many years, later farming in the Louisburg, Kan., area. He moved back to Jerico Springs in 1986 where he worked at a seed company in Lamar until his retirement. He and his wife Lorraine attended the West Independence Church near Jerico Springs as long as health permitted. He was saved and baptized at Stockton Lake a few years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, a resident of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood; his children, Janice Graham of Inola, Okla., Bill of Jerico Springs, Dennis of Plestine, Texas, Todd Heston and wife Vicky of Stanley, Kan., Garry and wife Donna of Opelika, Ala., and Barbara Shaw of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Aretta of Jerico Springs; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and three nieces; and many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lorin and Charles; a daughter-in-law, Linda Crayne and a son-in-law, Terry Graham.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Long-Brumback Funeral Home. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Jerico Springs United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenfield Cemetery.
