Gerald Bruce "Billy" Amonette, 73, of Hubbard, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005. funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at First United Methodist of Hubbard with the Rev. Jerry Irvin and the Rev. James Hooper officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wade Funeral Home.

Billy was born in Hubbard, Texas, to the late William Roy and Catherine Winnie (Connor) Amonette. He was a lifelong resident of Hubbard and a member of a pioneer Texas family that has been in Hubbard for more than 100 years. He retired from General Tire in Waco in 1986, but remained active as a rancher. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his brother, W.L. Amonette; and sisters, Christine Weatherby and Jacquelyn Biesiot.

Billy is survived by his wife, Wanda (English) Amonette, of Hubbard; daughters, Lesa Nowlin and husband, Ronnie, of Bynum and Laura Saucke and husband, Mike, of Hubbard; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
