Mother: Molly
∼Nancy never married Samuel Payson (1771-1823). Samuel refused to marry her when he found out Nancy was pregnant. Nancy managed to get the Payson family to agree to allow her child to have the Payson surname. I do not know why she relocated to Holliston. Perhaps it was to get away from the stigma of illegitimacy.....this story was told to me by Shirley Bell. She heard it from her grandmother, Flora Belle Payson. (granddaughter of Samuel Payson.) Shirley is my step-siblings mother.
Her parents were Levi Lindley and Molly Smith.
