Obituary
Mary Ann Catt was born in Howard County, July 18, 1852, and died February 28, 1908, age 55 years, 7 months and 10 days, at her home near Strang, Neb. She moved to Illinois in 1865, and was united in marriage to J. E. Day July 4, 1871, and to them were born five children; four are living, two boys and two girls; one boy died in infancy. Those who survive are her husband, four children, four brothers, two sisters, and her aged mother. She was converted and joined the Christian Church at the age of 16 years. Shewas a faithful wife, a loving mother, and an earnest Christian. Although her last illness was brief, her suffering was most intense, but she bore it all without a murmur. Her children were all at her bedside. Those her attended her funeral from a distance were George Catt, Ed Catt, and Mrs. Doc Lomax, and Mrs. John Sampson, all of Wichita, Kan., and Wm. Catt and wife, of Wilsonville, Neb., all brothers and sisters of the deceased; Mrs. Clara Howard, of Shenandoah, Iowa, sister of J. E. Day; Wm. Stillman and daughter, Bloud, of Fullerton, Neb., brother-in-law and niece of J. E. Day. She was conscious to the last and knew all her children and husband and died ahppy and said she was trusting in Jesus. The funeral was hel at the Harmony Church, conducted by Rev. Schul, the Christian minister from Hastings, Neb., Monday, March 2, at one o'clock, and the remains were laid to rest in the Harmony Cemetery.
