0, December 17, 1840. the daughter of Johan George and Margaret Kline Fry. When she was three years old her parents moved to Naperville, Illinois, and seven years later to Chambers Grove in Ogle county, She grew to womanhood there.
She married George Henry Diehl at Chambers Grove (License in Stephenson Co IL) on February 19, 1863. There were four children born into this family. One died in infancy, the others remain. They are Jacob Diehl of Lanark, Mrs. Emma Cheeseman of Shannon and Mrs. Agnes Dambman of Mt. Carroll. There are eight grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Diehl has lived near Chambers Grove and Lanark most of their married life. They farmed for years and are well known by the older farmers in this community.
Catherine was a member of the Evangelical church at Chamber's Grove for a number of years. In recent years she has been confined to her home quite closely. One sister lives, Sarah Wolf of Sherman, Illinois, and a brother, George Fry of Inwood, Iowa. She leaves her husband, son, and two daughters, with many friends. She lived to the age of 83 years, 6 months and 19 days.
The funeral was held from the M. E. church at Lanark on Tuesday. The services were in charge of Rev. E. Y. Knapp and Rev. Edward S. Nicholas, pastor. Burial was in the Lanark cemetery.
