Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, at 7:00 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Robert “Bobby” L. Airwyke of 4481 Deercreek Circle Apt #6 Austintown, who passed away at North Side Medical Center on Sunday.

He was born on August 28, 1949 in Warren, the son of Edwin P. and Frances Elizabeth “Hylton” Airwyke.

He was an architectural engineer, employed by McRoyal Industries of Youngstown. He attended Warren Harding High School and Kent State University and was a member of the Christian Life Center Church of Canfield.

Robert served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Sgt. E-5 Squad Leader with the 101st Airborne Division and also served as an infantry paratrooper with the 509th Airborne Regiment in Germany and was awarded several bronze medals while serving his country.

He was a published poet receiving a poetry award and was an artist with many signed paintings.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Rednock Airwyke whom he married on August 31, 2001, a daughter Pam Daniszewski (Brian) of Austintown, a son Thomas F. Devlin of Austintown and two grandchildren, Shelby and Nathan Daniszewski, a sister Dorie Harris of Niles, brothers Edwin P. Airwyke Jr. of Champion and Rolla J. Airwyke of Leavittsburg and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. Private burial to take place Wednesday at Green Haven Cemetery.

Bobby’s passion was his own Website “Strike Force Recovery”, a special ministry for Vietnam Veterans, recovering from Past Traumatic Stress Disorders and Alcohol and Drug Abuse, through which Bobby will always be loved and remembered by the many lives he touched.
