Obituary from the Versailles Leader, Versailles, Missouri:

"Mrs. W. J. Atkeson passed away at her home in Fortuna on Tuesday afternoon April 12. She had not been in good health for several months and had recently suffered a stroke.

Mrs. Atkeson, as a girl, Miss Alpha Snorgrass, was 78 years old at the time of her passing. She was born on October 22, 1870, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wood W. Snorgrass. Her birth was southwest of Tipton, land homesteaded by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Snorgrass. On April 13, 1890, she was married to William J. Atkeson who survives and to this union two daughters were born, (Lora) Mrs. J. P. McDaniel of Fortuna and (Mae) Mrs. J. M. Berkey of Mulberry, Kansas. Mrs. Atkeson is also survived by seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Stella Shires of Sherman, Texas, and five brothers, E. A. George and Andy Snorgrass of Tipton, John Snorgrass of Sherman Texas, Amandus Snorgrass of Windsor. One brother, Lawrence Snorgrass, died 24 years ago.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Baptist church in Fortuna, where she was a member, with the Rev. A. L. Sullivan, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery in Tipton.

Music was furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. Homer Chambers, Mrs. Zora Charles, A. P. Foley and Morris Lammert, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Morris Lammert."
