HERNDON — James Ray Long, 59, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at his residence after suddenly being stricken ill.
He was born in Sunbury, Sept. 15, 1954, a son of the late Ray C. and Lena M. (Hepner) Long. He was a lifetime resident of the Herndon area.
He was a 1972 graduate of Line Mountain High School and Northumberland County Vocational School. He later attended Triangle Tech.
He was employed as a furniture crafter at the former Pennsylvania House Furniture Company, Lewisburg.
He was of the Protestant faith.
James is survived by a son, Jeremiah R. Long and his wife, Jamie, of Herndon; a daughter, Mary Houseknecht and her husband, Eugene, of Shamokin, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia L. Fine and Gloria "Lollie" Rothermel.
Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Herndon Cemetery.
