Dorothy P. Paulk, 91, of Fitzgerald died Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the Life Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 9, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. Interment will follow in Frank Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Paulk was born May 2, 1920 in Ben Hill County to the late John Edward and Mae Oakes Pridgen. She lived in Fitzgerald all of her life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1939. Mrs. Paulk graduated from Norman Park College and received her Associates Degree in Library Science from Valdosta State College. She taught School at Ben Hill Elementary School and Irwin County Elementary School. Mrs. Paulk was a member of Arbor Baptist Church where she was former director of the Adult Sunday School Class department. She was a Pink Lady and a member of the Ben Hill-Irwin Retired Educators Association.
She is survived by her son, John E. Paulk of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Jay E. & Tiffany Paulk of Fitzgerald, Lyn & Stan Duernberger of Warner Robins and Suzanne & Randy New of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Nate, Pressley, Ty and Marley Kayt Paulk, Chandler and Conner James and Landon and Brooklyn New as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Eugene Paulk, one brother and five sisters.
Services were held at First Baptist Church of Americus on Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m., with Dr. Reed Crumbliss
Officiating.
Interment was held at Frank Church Cemetery of Irwin County on Saturday, July 31 at 4 p.
