Richard S. Herr, 77, of Jonestown went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 27, 2013 at home.
Born September 9, 1936 in Lebanon, he was a son of Alverta K. (Blauch) Herr of Palmyra and the late Sterling E. Herr.
Retired as a manager from PennDOT after 16 years, he was previously shop foreman for Jones Motors, Lebanon, had worked for the former John Bohr Trucking, and was a member of Teamsters Union, Reading. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Congregational Church, Steelstown, the Greenpoint Fire Company, Lebanon County Fireman's Association, Police Chief's Association, and the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife of 56 years Loretta A. (Bowman) Herr; children Randy, husband of Gina Herr of Palmyra, Barbara, wife of Earl Blauch of Palmyra, Brian, husband of April Herr of Bellegrove, and Janet, wife of Byron Smalley of Hershey; siblings Carl Herr of Ono, William Herr of Annville, Larry Herr of Jonestown, Clyde Herr of Jonestown, and Patricia Custer of Jonestown; six granddaughters; one grandson; and 11 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his church, 683 Steelstown Road, Annville with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held 5:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra. There will be no viewing Tuesday at the church.
