Henry Bristol was a private in Company E, 7th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. The 7th Wisconsin was one of five regiments in the famed Iron Brigade (aka the Black Hat Brigade) of the Army of the Potomac. Henry enlisted in May 1861 in Wisconsin and saw action in a number of famous battles in 1862, including Gainesville (Aug 1862), 2nd Bull Run (Aug 1862), South Mountain (Sept 1862), Antietam (Sept 1862), and Fredericksburg (Dec 1862). Henry died on March 16, 1863 in Belle Plains, VA of disease.
