Genie Wood" Eugenia Zell McMahon Smith Wood passed away in Boerne at the age of 86 on Sunday, November 24, 2013. She was born in Medina, Texas, to William and Minnie McMahon on February 17, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents; her four sisters and one brother; her husbands, Eugene Claude Smith and O.J. Wood; her son, Oran Avery Smith; her stepson, Bobby Wood; and her great grandson, Johnathon Bond.

Throughout Genie's life, she fed many people's hearts and souls. She was a fantastic cook and never sent anyone away hungry. Most importantly, she ministered God's Word to those around her and loved everyone. Genie and O.J. sheparded many souls during their time together. After he passed away, she volunteered for many years at Hill Country Family Services. Genie had an unwavering faith that left a Christian legacy for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Genie is survived by her children: Ivy Lee Smith D'Spain and husband David of Boerne, Claude "Smitty" Smith and wife Vera of Waring, Jet Smith and wife Dorothy of Bandera, Darlene Smith (Mrs. Oran Smith) of Boerne, Walton Willard Smith and wife Donna of Harper, stepdaughter Kimberly Wood Watt and husband Randy of Blanco, and stepdaughter-in-law, Sharon Wood of Kerrville. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Turner McMahon of Harper; her brothers-in-law and their wives: T.W. Smith and Minnie, L.C. Smith and Sharon; her sisters-in-laws, Joyce McGuffin and Nelda Culak and husband Eugene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Genie was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 15 great, great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Currey Creek Baptist Church in Boerne with interment to follow at the Boerne Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Genie's honor to Hill Country Family Services at 118 W. Advogt St., Boerne, TX 78006.
