WISE, Va. Jimmie McCall Branon, 75, passed away Tuesday (May 31, 2011), at his home.
He was a member of the Wise Trinity United Methodist Church, where he also served as treasurer. He retired from the Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital after 41 years of service as the store supervisor, was a member of the Hill County Dancers and served as president of the Little League as well as several other positions throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Branon; parents, James and Ida Branon; a brother, Kenneth Branon; and three sisters, Frankie Smith, Jewell Noe and Jenny Kivett.
Surviving are his children, son and daughter-in-law, James and Cindy Branon of Austin, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ed Stallard of Wise, Va., and son, Mark Branon and the mother of his children, Kathy Branon of Wise, Va.; grandchildren, Zachary Owens of Winter Garden, Fla., Nicholas and Sierra Branon of Wise, Va.; stepgranddaughter, Makella Holmes of Norton, Va.; great-stepgranddaughter, Bailey Holmes of Norton, Va.; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, Va.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dave Henderson officiating.
Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Beverly Cemetery Wise, Va. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
Sturgill Funeral Home, 1621 Norton Road SW, Wise, Va. 24293, is in charge of arrangements.
