COVINGTON, GA — Graveside services for Mr. Hugh Arnold Jr., age 89 of Covington, GA will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA. Burial will follow after Military Honors are performed. Pallbearers will be Dan Thomason, Paul Moody, Chris Byers, Russell Arnold, Chris Wallace and Mike Bare.
~Survivors include two sons, Larry H. (Pat) Arnold of Manchester, GA and Ken Arnold of Clermont, FL; a sister, Emily (Hubert) Meyers of Decatur, GA; a brother, Everett (Ola) Arnold of Decatur, GA; three grandchildren Debbie M. (Dan) Thomason of Covington, GA, Russell (Laurie) Arnold of Cumming, GA, Tracy (Chris) Wallace of McDonough, GA; and 10 great grandchildren.
~Mr. Arnold was a native of Bairdstown, GA, born October 21, 1919 the son of Hugh Arnold Sr. and Mary Sue Smith Arnold. He was retired from Southern Bell as a Test Board Supervisor, was a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of Trinity Baptist Church, a member of Manchester Kiwanis Club, and a member of the Stephens Masonic Lodge No. 586 F&AM in Manchester. He was a charter member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.
~He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years Martha Marie Arnold; a sister, Mary (Willie D) Wilkes and a grand daughter, Rosemary Byers. Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
