On Aug. 10, 1935, he married Evelyn G. Markley in Dubuque, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Ron (Patricia) Harris and Robert (Karen) Harris, both of Prairie du Chien, Susan (Robert) Johnson, Marshall, and Kathy (Rick) Bausch, Glen Haven; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
