S2c Paul Frame served on the brave gunboat USS Asheville Gun Boat 21/ PG 21. that on March 3rd, 1942 south of Java radioed that she was attacked while sailing to Australia. She was not seen or heard of again, and her fate was unknown for a long time until the history was obtained from a repatriated American who had been a POW of the Japanese . Two Japanese destroyers closed and engaged the smaller Asheville who fought fiercely in an intense 30-minute gun battle. She finally sank.
Paul was a hero.
