Lueta was an only child, until the birth of her two sisters--Janie in 1943 and Doris in 1946. She was always big "Sister" to them.
After high school graduation, Lueta attended Central State College, choosing dramatics as her major field of study. She was remembered by those who were inspired and entertained by her dramatic readings at church and civic events during this part of her life. Her interests always included writing and, in later years, genealogical research.
Lueta married Milfred Flynn Kellerby on May 4, 1947, at the First Church of God, Stroud, Oklahoma. They celebrated fifty years together in 1997 and were honored by their children with a golden wedding reception at their church in Neodesha, Kansas. Their first home was established in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where Milfred was employed by Houston Payne Photography, and their two older children were born there. Milfred answered a call to the ministry and the family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he began his pastorates. Tulsa was the birthplace of their two younger children.
Throughout the years of Milfred's ministry to various churches in Oklahoma, Iowa, and Kansas, Lueta was always his helpmate and the family homemaker as they reared their family. Although at times living at some distance from their birth families, keeping family ties intact was always a priority with them, and they often travelled many miles in order to be with the extended family at special times.
Milfred and Lueta were the parents of four children: (1) Mary Jane, 1948-2018, (2) Robert Lewis, 1950-1984, (3) Phillip Ray, born in 1954, and (4) Ruth Lynn, born in 1956.
Milfred and Lueta moved to Neodesha in 1966. Milfred passed away June 29, 2003, at the Golden Keys Nursing Home, Neodesha. After his death, Lueta continued to reside at the family home, 1621 North 2nd Street in Neodesha. She passed away at Wilson County Hospital at 11:45 P.M. on August 11, 2005, following a short hospital stay.
