John E. Logan, 85, St. Joseph, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Logan retired from the Railway Mail Service after 25 years. During World War II, he served in the Army.

Born in Arkoe, Mo., on March 7, 1913, he was a member of the Pony Express American Legion Post No. 359 and was a Christian. He was formerly active in the Masons.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; two stepdaughters, Pat Jetton and Joann Hayes; his parents, Martin A. and Lula M.; and two brothers, Harry L. and Charles a.

Surviving; his wife, Barbara C. of the home; a stepdaughter, B.J. Chimenti, Hinsdale, Ill.; a sister, Viola Weddle, Pekin, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside service and burial: Wednesday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. joseph, with military rites by members of the Pony Express American legion Post No. 359, St. Joseph.
