HINGHAM J. Nelson Clifford, of Hingham, June 11, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Savage) Clifford. Devoted father of Robert A. Clifford and his wife Elizabeth of Hingham and the late Steven F. Clifford. Father-in-law of Teresa Clifford of Boulder, CO. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. Mr. Clifford was a graduate of Bridgewater State College and Clark University. A ship designer for the Fore River Ship Yard in Quincy during World War II, he also taught at the Montclair Elementary School in Quincy. Mr. Clifford worked in advertising for J. T. Chirug of Boston and later became a partner with Chambers, Wiswell and Moore, also of Boston. He founded Research Associates of Holbrook, from which he retired in 1990. Nelson traveled extensively with his wife Dorothy in the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the South Pacific. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Mass in St. Albert the Great Church on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment will be private. Donations in memory of Mr. Clifford may be made to The Clifford Family Memorial Scholarship, c/o Treasurer's Office, Town of Hingham, 210 Central St., Hingham, MA 02043.
