Funeral services for Truman H. Pipes, age 86 of Choudrant, LA will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2010 at Longstraw Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA with Rev. Larry Emory and Rev. Dale Oden officiating. Burial will follow in Longstraw Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Mr. Pipes was born September 27, 1923 in Downsville, LA and died January 16, 2010 in Monroe, LA. He was a welltender and retired from Southern Natural Gas after 30 years of service.

After retirement, he was the owner of Pipes Well Service. In his spare time, Mr. Pipes was an avid gardener growing vegetables and roses.

He and his wife were charter members of Central Baptist Church in Ruston, LA where Mr. Pipes served as a deacon. He was a member of Longstraw Baptist Church at his death.

Mr. Pipes is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby Hutson Pipes; his children: Don Neil Pipes and wife Vicki of Plaquemine, LA; Carol Ann and husband Robert L. Pardue of Jackson, LA; Tennessee and Penny Ann Harris of Jonesboro, LA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers: Walter Pipes of Ruston, LA and Bert Neil Pipes and wife Glenda of Choudrant, LA; one sister: Mary Glynn and husband Ansel M. Winham of Ruston, LA as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Wade H. Pipes and Eliza Allen Pipes.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Scott Willis, Robert Brown, Jerffery Brown, Chris Brown, Josh Brown and John Pipes.
