Drannon (D.) Edmison, 88, of Moran died Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hendricks Hospice. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Albany with Rev. James Walter Edmison officiating. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home, Clyde. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at the church in Albany.

Mr. Edmison was born September 24, 1925 in Hylton, Texas to James and Frankie (Swindle) Edmison. The Edmison family moved from Hylton, Texas in a covered wagon in December 1925 to Eastland, Texas and then to Albany in 1932. He graduated from Albany High School in 1943 and served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945 as a Seaman in the South Pacific. Mr. Edmison received an associate degree from Ranger Jr. College, attended Hardin Simmons University and Centenary College in Louisiana. After returning to Albany he met the love of his life, Margaret Ann Wylie; they were married June 6, 1950. He worked for 25 years for Oilwell, transferring to different places across the state. Upon his retirement from Oilwell in 1975 D. and Margaret opened their own business, M and D Oilfield Supply Company and later other oilfield related businesses. They moved back to Moran in 1990 where he entered into the Ranching business. Mr. Edmison has served as a Worshipful Master of the Albany and Moran Lodges; he received his 60 year membership award and the Golden Trowel award from Albany Lodge #482. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies being a 32nd degree Mason; he was invested with the rank and decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honour and served as a Commander of the Moran American Legion Post.

D. Edmison was a devoted family man. Love of family was a driving force throughout his life. He enriched the lives of family and friends through his unwavering service, sense of fun, and easy laughter. He will be loved, missed and forever remembered.

Mr. Edmison is survived by one son D. Edmison Jr. and wife Teresa of Moran; two daughters Diann Edmison May of Moran and Melinda Maurer and husband Allen of Albany; six grandchildren, Jennifer Edmison of Moran, Karyn Price and husband Chris of Houston, Kendall Haskit of San Diego, California, Jeremy Maurer and wife Elizabeth of Austin, Melissa Maurer of Austin and Melany Maurer of Austin; one great granddaughter Charlotte Price and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, three brothers Emmett, Benny and Bert Edmison and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Maurer.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Wilborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
