Addie Lawson Howle Sprott, 88, a recent resident of the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina in Florence, died Thursday, April 26. She was born in the Swift Creek Community of Darlington County on Oct. 19, 1918, daughter of the late Crawford Toye and Cora Privette Howle. She was married to the late Hugh Stokes Sprott. She received her education in the public schools of Darlington County.
Mrs. Sprott was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Darlington. She taught in the Childrens Department of the Church for more than 50 years, as well as serving on various committees. She volunteered with the Red Cross and other charitable organizations in the community over the years. She loved flowers and her garden.
Surviving are a son, Hugh Stokes Sprott III; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Allen and Karen Sprott of Darlington; two grandchildren, Macy Reid Sprott, a senior at Clemson University, and Chase Hampton Sprott, a senior at The Byrnes Schools. Mrs. Sprott was preceded in death by her four sisters, Sarah Fogle, Miriam Gregory, Lucile Berry and Cora Stork, and four brothers, C.T. Howle Jr., Joe Howle, Dan Howle and Bill Howle.
