"The relatives, friends, and acquaintances of Mrs. Emiline Deignan are respectfully invited to attend her funeral services this Monday afternoon at St. Peter's [Catholic] Church at 4 o'clock." (The News and Courier, Charleston, S.C., 16 March 1908, p. 8, col. 3.)

IN MEMORIAM — "In loving remembrance of our dear mother, Emmiline Deignan, who departed this life March 15, 1908. Just a year ago you left us, how we miss you, Mother dear; and remember all your kindness, as we drop a slight tear. But we know that you are happy in the mansion of the blest, where there is no pain or sorrow, in one sweet silent rest. Dearest Mother, how we miss you since from earth you passed away; and our hearts are aching sorely, as we think of you each day. By our bedside, sad and lonely, memory's thoughts will not be stilled, in His love this task He willed. — Daughters J. R. [Julia Rutledge] and E. H. [Elizabeth Hayne]" (The News and Courier, Charleston, S.C., 15 March 1909, p. 8, col. 5.)
