He graduated from Concordia College and then on August 20, 1933, he married Edith Nielsen. They lived in Montana, South Dakota, and North Dakota, where Clem was the school administrator. They lived in Fargo in the late 50's and early 60's and were active members of Olivet Lutheran Church. They returned to Fargo in 1967 and became members of Hope Lutheran Church.
Clem had Parkinson's Disease all through his retirement years. He died in their home in August of 1983.
