Mrs. Ruth Jane (Cole) O'Brien Rhodes, 95, formerly of Frederick, currently of Jacksonville, FL, died Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was the wife of the late Richard O'Brien and Charles Rhodes. Born on May 17, 1918, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Cynthia Isabell Cole. Ruth was blessed with two daughters, Shirley Ann Notnagle, who passed away on May 5, 2007 and Alice Virginia Gann of Frederick. She retired from American Optical in the late 1980's, where she worked for over 21 years. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her vegetable garden. She enjoyed cooking chicken and dumplings, strawberry dumplings, doughnuts, fried chicken, and made the best coconut cake. I can still see her outside on the porch canning veggies. She had a deep love for the lord and put him first in her life till the day she passed. Her favorite hymnals were amazing grace, and the old rugged cross. She is survived by her daughter Alice Gann, grandchildren, Urana Notnagle Harris and her husband Mark, Damina Notnagle, Cynthia Weaver, Jiri Leigh Moor and husband Jonathan and Richie Neal, great grandchildren Jessica Wells, Amanda Smith, Brennon Moor, River Jordan, Madison and Mackenzie Neal, and 9 great great grandchildren for which 3 of them are with her in heaven
