Mrs. Wilbur Gay, 73, of Austin MN, a former Rochester resident, died at St. Olaf's Hospital in Austin of an apparent heart attack. The former Edith Vale was born August 11, 1900 in Princeton. She was first married to George Orton. They lived for a number of years in Illinois and later resided in Rochester. He died in 1956. She married Mr. Gay about 14 years ago.

Survivors include her husband Wilbur, two daughters, Georgetta Derr and Roberta Kunecki, and a son Rex Orton, six grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren, sister Mrs. Martha Ellenbaum and two brothers Chester and Cecil. Funeral services at Worlein Chapel in Austin and burial in Glen Oaks Cemetery, Chicago IL.

Obit says the former Edith Vale. She is the biological daughter of Minnie Gay and Charles Burrows, but Minnie married Oliver Veal/Vale in 1903 and he raised Edith (and perhaps adopted her).
