Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at DeRoo Funeral Home Ltd., Moline, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Federation of the Blind, American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
Mr. Parks died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo., after a brief illness.
He was born March 14, 1903, in Douds, Iowa, the son of Earl and Nettie Hanshaw Parks. He married Marjorie Ebeling on May 25, 1957, in Moline.
He moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, at an early age and in 1929 joined John Deere. He transfered to Deere and Co. in Moline in 1942. He was transfered to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1961, as director of purchasing where he retired in 1968 after 39 years of service. He joined Drives Inc., Fulton, as a salesman in 1969 where he worked for 15 years retiring in 1984 after completing 65 consecutive years of full-time employment. He was a longtime member, past president (1958) and hononary member of Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, and also belonged to Rancho Viejo Country Club, Rancho Viejo, Texas, where he and his wife have resided permanently since 1992. He was also a lifetime member of the BPO Elks, Moline Lodge No. 556.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marjorie; son and daughter-in-law, Hayden Michael and Kim Parks, St. Louis, Mo.; and a grandson, Hayden Robert Parks.
