Principal Chief (Cherokee NC)- 1931-47, 1955-59, 1963-67 retired. Jarret Blythe was the son of James "Chestnut-bread" Blythe and Adaline Josephine Smith Blythe (daughter of Chief Nimrod Jarrett Smith).

Elected chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee for four consecutive four year terms from 1931 - 1947. Elected chief again in 1955. Jarret was the 1956 recipient of the Indian Achievement of the Year Award presented by the Indian Council Fire Organization.
