James "Chestnut-Bread" Dis-qua-na or Diskwani Blythe was the son of Jackson Blythe and Ollie Reed.

He was the halfbrother of Goliath Blythe.

Catherine Blythe, born 11. Apr. 1918, married Sanders

Served as Indian Agent, apparently the only Cherokee ever appointed by the government to that position. He was interpreter for Chief Nimrod Jarret Smith (father of his wife Adaline Josephine Smith). James served as Chief of the Cherokee during the 1890`s.

"Asheville, Feb 23 - James Blythe, perhaps the best known Indian in North Carolina, died at his home in Soco on the Indian Reservation, last Monday. He was 59 years old and for many years was recognized as one of the leaders among the Cherokees on the reservation, taking part in all the public affairs of his people." James was the son of Jackson & Elizabeth (Smith) Blythe - they were American Indians; James had a brother David Blythe (b.1863), and a brother William Henry Blythe (1873-1947); James married Mary Catherine Jane Dormire. They had two children: Rachel (b.1916) and Emma Katherine (b.1918)
