Thornton Blair Goodbar, age 72, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at his residence. Born October 8, 1931 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Alvin Garner Goodbar and Polly Mae Clark Goodbar.
Mr. Goodbar was a member of the V.F.W., a veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Burlington Industries with 44 years of service.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Clemon Goodbar, Maynard Goodbar, Cluster Goodbar, Aubrey Goodbar, and Clayton Goodbar.
Surviving are two sisters: Ponsella Sensabaugh and Eleanor Goodbar, both of Lexington; seven nieces, 6 nephews and special friends, Gladys Black, Lexington, and Joyce Robinson of Buena.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Short officiating. Burial will follow in the Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Effinger Fire Department or the Rockbridge Area Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
