Robert Wilson (Bob) Armentrout, 66, of Keezletown, passed away at his home on Monday, May 18,1998, after battling cancer.

He was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Rockingham County, the son of the late Charles R. and Sadie Depoy Armentrout.

He worked for the Glen Shomo Tire Company before joining Smiths Transfer, where he worked for 26 years prior to his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Teamster's Retirees Local 29.

Mr. Armentrout continued to work in his community by repairing mowers and small engines, sharpening knives and plowing gardens, until his health failed in February of this year. He served as Sunday School Superintendent in the former Keezletown EUB Church and was a founding member of the Keezletown United Methodist Church's Men's Group and attended the Shepherds Class.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, three daughters, three grandsons, a sister and brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, a sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Franklin and Cleo Richard Armentrout.

The funeral will be conducted at the Keezletown United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 21, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends Don Hawks and David Breeden officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will meet with friends at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening, May 20, or they may visit at the Armentrout home.

Pallbearers will be Alan J. Liskey, Donnie Liskey, Robert W. Derrer, R. Noland Suter, James F. Dillard, James E. Shifflett, Robert Pittington, and Frank W. Taylor.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Keezletown United Methodist Church, General Delivery, Keezletown.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for all of the support and caring that has been shown during Bob's illness.
