Born the daughter of Rear Adm John Irwin and Oceana B Saint Irwin, Everalyn "Evy" died at age 10 yrs. and 9 mns. of heart disease. According to Philadelphia death record Evy was buried May 20, 1871 in Old Swedes Church Cemetery. Death record indicates birth in Philadelphia but this is inconsistent with 1860 Census (FL) and the fact that John Irwin and family were stationed at the Naval Yard in Escambia, Florida in 1860.

The family was living at 831 N 13 th St in Philadelphia.

Her mother Oceana was born 1839 in New Jersey daughter of Daniel and Louisa Saint and died Jun 30, 1917 in Oakland, California.

Why was she buried here? When her great grandfather John Irwin came to America with siblings and mother "they went to Carlisle, PA because they had cousins there". The only Irwin I found in Carlisle ca. 1770's was William Irvine. Checking the "famous people" buried here one finds William Irvine! John Irwin did not knowingly leave his daughter with family for Brig General William Irvine's remains were only brought here in 1952.
