A 32nd Degree Mason, Master of the Lodge, A Shriner.

George Harvey Bowles: A.D. 02/07/1871 to 01/13/1973

Awarded in 1967 for 60 years of continuous active membership the Masonic Lodge, Mt. Pleasant No. 84 gave him a Masonic Emblem. At that time 1970-1973 he was the Eldest Mason in the World and USA.

Our and his Kin. My Great Uncle Hon. Elwood Floyd Yates, Sr , a 33rd Degree Mason was/is then the eldest Mason he as Miss Anne Rucker Payne said in Roseland, Nelson County, Va. 22967 , "Uncle Floyd died in his 108th Year! "

Born in Fancy Hill, Amherst County, Virginia, USA on 7th of February, 1871 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nathaniel Bowles and Martha Potter Turpin. George Harvey Bowles married Miss Martha Annie Jennings , becoming Mrs. Bowles and had seven children. He passed away on 13th of January, 1973.

My Brother Stephen Mitchell (Mitch) De Mallie , my Mom Mary Elizabeth Harvey De Mallie, and I were at and with UNCLE George at his house looking at Mt. Pleasant Mitch asked for his autograph and George ran quickly up the stairs. He had not done that in a decade! His daughter never saw him move as nimble and quick.
