Passed away October 14, 2008. Vonna was born September 4, 1935 in Missoula, MT to Dorothy and Marion Anderson of Plains, MT - joining and older sister and brother. During WWII, the family lived in Hermiston, OR and Walla Walla, WA while their father was employed in government construction projects. The family returned to their home in Plains after the war. Vonna graduated from Plains High School and came to Spokane to attend Kinman Business School. She met and married her husband, Gordon E. Vails in 1954. They made their home in Spokane and raised a family here throughout their 54 years of marriage. Vonna was a former Worthy Advisor and Mother Advisor of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Matron of Electa Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Queen of El Karnak Temple, Daughters of the Nile. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Eaton; and brother, Clayton Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Gordon E. Vails; son, Clayton Vails of Spokane; daughters, Vernita (David) Scheel of Spokane, Monica Vails of Spokane, Shauna (David) Kamenz of Lacey, WA; grandchildren, Alexandra, Matt and Dana Kamenz, Aubrey and Nicholas (Kelly) Scheel; great-granddaughter, Hailey Jo; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Vonna will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 20, 2008 at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Children's Endowment Fund of the Daughters of the Nile, c/o El Karnak Temple, 1108 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201.
