CLEARFIELD - Clara Marie Olsen Barlow, Mom, Grandma, "B", sister, aunt and friend slipped quietly away on December 9, 2013.
She was born November 27, 1920 in College Ward, Utah to Harvey J. Olsen and Marie Larsen. She graduated from South Cache High School. She moved to the Ogden area in 1941 and has lived in Clearfield since 1948.
She married Grant F. Barlow January 14, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died in 1993. They had four children.
She was a lifelong farmer's wife and beloved by many for her service. She worked at the Ogden Arsenal, Hill Air Force Base and the Internal Revenue Service in the Unpostable Unit, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and several other civic organizations. She was an active member of the LDS Church and had served in many callings. She and her husband were ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for 16 years. She enjoyed reading, lunch with family and friends, working in her garden, traveling with family and friends, and chocolate. She had visited 48 and the 50 states and several foreign countries.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: DeAnn Riley, Clearfield, UT; Marie Welch, Colorado Springs, CO; Oscar and Deb Barlow, Blackhawk, CO; Shelly and Randy Julander, Layton, UT; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sister Caroll Orton, Avon, UT; brothers Doyle Olsen, West Point, UT and Gerald Olsen, Riverdale, UT.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, parents, brothers Russell Olsen, Joseph Olsen; and sister Reta Fyffe.
She will be greatly missed by her entire family and her many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield 11th Ward Chapel, 1259 S. 1175 E., Clearfield, UT. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., and Saturday at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
