He attended Portland, ME schools and graduated from Portland High School class of 1940. He also graduated from the former Portland Junior College.
During WWII he was a veteran in the US Army and received a Purple Heart for injuries received in the European Theater of Operations.
He was employed by the Postal Service for 39 years and also worked at the Government Employees Federal Credit Union.
He was a CB radio enthusiast for many years with the handle "Silverbull".
He is survived by his wife Marian of Standish, ME; four sons Joseph A Jr and Gregory A both of Standish, ME; Christopher F and Frank W both of Portland, ME; seven grandchildren.
