JERRY T. SMITH
Jerry T. Smith, 61, RFD 6, Evans avenue, died Monday of an apparent heart seizure. Smith's body was found Tuesday morning in his cabinet shop on Evans avenue.
Born June 27, 1907 at Mitchell, Ind., he was a son of Jerry P. and Lora Smith. On June 12, 1934 in Valparaiso he married Carolyn Hagenow, who preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1967.
On Aug. 31, 1968 in Valparaiso he married Jean Obermyer, who survives.
A resident of Valparaiso since 1930, Smith was a cabinet-maker and operated Smith's Craft shop. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Valparaiso Moose lodge 1357 and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving besides his widow are one daughter, Mrs. Galen (Bonnie) Kelly, Portage; four brothers, Opal I., LaCrosse, Carl G., Valparaiso, William M., Elkhart, and Paul of Marion; one sister, Mrs. Joe Bannister, Hope, Ind.; and his parents of Mitchell.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Frank L. Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Moose rites will be conducted at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Wetmore Funeral home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
The family requests memorials be made to the heart fund.
