Ruth was born January 20, 1926 in Ogden, Utah, to Alfred Emory Barnes and Dorothy Tracy Barnes. She grew up and attended schools in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from high school in Arco, ID.
Ruth married Clyfton Allen and they moved to Teton, where they raised their family of five children. Clyfton passed away October 3, 1955, as a result of a farming accident.
In April 1970, she married Hyrum Longmore at Idaho Falls, Idaho. He passed away in March, 2007.
Ruth worked for Simplot for over 30 years. She had also worked Deseret Industries, the Paramount Theater, in cafés, a nursing home, and at Ben Franklin.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions in the church. She served an LDS Mission in Houston, TX with her husband, Hyrum. She worked in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making quilts, camping, and visiting family. She was a member of the St. Anthony VFW Auxiliary.
Ruth is survived by daughters: Kathleen (Roger) Wolfe, of Teton, and Janice (Randy) Rine, of Nampa; son, Gary (Lorna) Allen, of Teton; brothers: Arlin Tracy (Wilma) Barnes, of Layton, UT, and Edward "Ted" (Carma) Barnes, of Star; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; six stepchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy & Emory Barnes; two sisters: Lou Jean & Dorothy Ann; four brothers: Austin, Byron, Vern & Eldon; two husbands: Clyfton J. Allen & Hyrum Longmore; two sons: Glenn & Emory; and a stepson, Clyff.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Teton LDS 2nd Ward, 44 West Main Street in Teton, with Bishop Craig Carter officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
