In 1910 she and her parents and three siblings lived in a house they were renting in Richland Township, Greene County, IN. Her father worked as a laborer and she and her sister Emma as domestics.

From a newspaper:

Maude (WADE) SPARKS, the fourth child of Bunion and Frances WADE, was born November 9, 1892, and died June 2, 1917, aged twenty-four years, six months and twenty-three days. She was married to Harvey A. SPARKS at Bloomfield, March 22, 1915. To this union was born one daughter, Frances Virginia, who survives. Other surviving relatives are a devoted husband, father, mother, three sisters, Mrs. Willie SPARKS, Mrs. Edd OCKERMAN, both of this place; and Mrs. Paris HATTABAUGH, of Louisville; two brothers Pierl, of this place and Harry, in the army at Ft. H. G. Wright, New York. A brother, Charles, preceded her to the home beyond several years ago. She united with the Church of God at Walnut Grove at the age of fourteen under the pastorate of Rev. FLORY and Rev. CISNEY. Often within the past year of suffering she has expressed a willingness, and indeed an intense desire, to be at rest. She had looked forward to a Christian training for her little daughter. May her will be carried out in this. In spite of the sufferings of the past year she has had many of the best blessings that this life can afford. The love and devotion of her husband has been almost unparalleled—nothing that he could do contributing to her welfare and happiness has been left undone. The thoughtful, loving care of her immediate family and the interest manifested by a multitude of friends, all attest the hold she had on the affections of her acquaintances. The funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Walnut Grove church conducted by Rev. J. A. SPENCER, of Sandborn. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall bears were Mrs. A. MORGAN, of Louisville, Kentucky; Mrs. Bess CARMICHAEL, of Morgantown; Mrs. Nannie HUNTER, Mrs. Nellie MATHEWS, Miss Rosa ALLEN, Miss Freeda MITCHELL, Mrs. Ella RECORD, of Calvertville, and Mrs. Nellie DIXON, of Bloomfield.
