Charles Neil Andecover, 88, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH.

He was born July 15, 1925 in Fremont, the son of Miland and Mabel (Smith) Andecover.

Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October, 23, 1943 to November 28, 1945 during WWII. He participated in action against the enemy at Guam, Marianas Islands, July 21, 1944-August 10, 1944; at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands from April 1, 1945-June 21, 1945 and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Pacific Area Medal.

Charles married Harriette A. Wilson on June 11, 1946 in Toledo, OH a she preceded him in death on August 21, 2000.

Charles worked in the Utility Department at Whirlpool Corporation from 1954 until he retired in 1985. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as Head Usher and volunteered much of his time. He was a Founding member of the Ballville Fire Station and a member of the Fremont VFW. Charles loved tending his orchard, vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed woodworking, remodeling homes and eagle watching. He also loved taking car rides and spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Cindy Gillette, Mary (Abbott) Casselman, Laura Andecover, all of Fremont, OH; brother, Robert (Bev) Andecover, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Brian (Mindy) Casselman, Jolene (Steve) Biggins, Kevin (Susie) Casselman and Cory (Pattie) Gamertsfelder; great grandchildren, Brianna Casselman, Sophia Biggins, Ryder Gamertsfelder, Jakob Biggins, Wesley Casselman, Alicia Casselman, Marin Gamertsfelder and Luke Casselman; his cat, Ginger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriette A. Andecover; brother, Norman Andecover; son-in-law, Dean Gillette.

Visitation: Monday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH. Service: Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 10:30 am, with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 204 N. Wayne St, Fremont, with Pastor H. Kearns officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.

Memorials: Trinity United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
