Bailey was a 33 year old Tanner from Creek Stand, Alabama when he joined the Confederate Army. He enlisted as a Private in Company C 15th Alabama Infantry July 3,1861. He was promoted to 2nd Sergeant September 1,1862. He was killed instantly by a minie ball to the head while fighting at Gettysburg. His wife, Martha A. Bibby, filed a claim April 21,1863. - Added by Hutch
