HENRY F. DELONG
Henry F. DeLong, 98 of Elmwood, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota, died Friday, October 29, 2004 at Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home, Elmwood.
He was born October 20, 1906 in Maiden Rock, WI; the son of Emmanuel and Amanda Holstrom DeLong. He was raised in the Township of Eau Galle, Dunn County. He graduated from Durand High School in 1926. Henry went on to River Falls Teacher's College and earned his Teacher's Certificate. He taught at various one-room schools in the Eau Galle area.
Henry married Marguerite Appel June 30, 1934. After marriage they farmed near Morton Hill, rural Elmwood for 26 years. They moved to St. Paul, MN in 1960, where he worked at the Lowry Medical Building until his retirement. Marguerite died in November of 1977, and for the past two years, Henry had been a resident of Heritage of Elmwood.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty Davidson, Little Canada, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Bill (Vonda) Davidson, St. Cloud, MN, Mary (Gordon) Weaver, Roseville, MN, Steve (Cathy) Davidson, Little Canada, MN, Lori (Ron) Trudeau, White Bear Lake, MN; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marcella (Newell) Weiser, Elmwood.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel and Amanda Holstrom DeLong; his wife, Marguerite Appel DeLong; and one sister, Hulda DeLong.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elmwood with Rev. Varkey V. Joseph officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Rhiel Funeral Service, Elmwood.
