John Elzie Bishop, Jr., 79, of Jesup, GA, died Friday, December 13, 2013, after a short illness and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The Wayne Co., GA, native was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, retired from the manufacturing business, having worked at Manhattan, Parks, and Ashley Manufacturing. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was predeceased by his first wife: Beth Dyas Bishop, his parents: John Elzie, Sr. and Evelyn Miller Bishop, 2 sons: John Eric Bishop and John Elzie Bishop II and a brother: Wayne Bishop.

Survivors are his wife of 20 years: Sylvia Carter Bishop of Jesup, GA, 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Debra and Chris Bullard, Tina McColley, Samantha and Ed Flowers, all of Jesup, GA, a step-son: Mance Nation of Jesup, GA, sister-in-law: Loretta Bishop of Jesup, GA, 10 grandchildren: Christy Groover, Kelly Smith, John Elzie Bishop, IV, Erica Bishop, Britton McColley Clark, Lacey McColley Phillips, Payton McColley, Alvin Hall (Bubba) Jr., Sandy Hall, and Blake Chaffin, 18 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 P. M. Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Pastor Hulet Smith officiating and with presentation of the American Flag by American Legion Post #311. Interment will be in the Friendship Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Ed Flowers, Chris Bullard, Alvin Hall, Jr., Mark Bishop, Davey Jones and Lawrence "Man" Harwick.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 P. M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to services
